What is the BB Fractional?

The Light Cube® BB Fractional treatment is a 1550nm nonablative laser skin resurfacing treatment than can treat a variety of skin concerns on ALL SKIN TYPES.

How does BB Fractional work?

The Light Cube® BB Fractional Laser System fires a non-ablative laser beam, which is then split into a number of microscopic beams. The 1550nm energy is absorbed into water in the dermal layer of the skin. This gentle heating results in controlled thermal tissue damage. The fractionated component of the laser allows the epidermis to retain its healing function throughout the treatment and healing time. This allows visible changes to both layers of the skin without the significant downtime or risk for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation that can occur with treatment to the epidermis. These microscopic beams then produce tiny dot or pixel-like treatment zones within the selected target area of the skin. This leaves the other zones within it perfectly untouched and intact, permitting the entire treatment area to heal much faster as only a fraction of the area receives the deeply penetrating heat of the laser.

During the skin’s healing and self-resurfacing time, a great amount of collagen is produced for skin rejuvenation. This results in much healthier and youthful looking skin.

Who is a good candidate for BB Fractional?

Everyone. This treatment is safe for ALL SKIN TYPES. It is also safe to treat anywhere on the body.

As this laser’s energy is most readily absorbed by water in the dermal layer, even darker skin types can be safely and effectively treated with the Light Cube® BB Fractional.

Do BB Fractional treatments hurt?

We recommend numbing prior to treatment. We typically numb our patients with a Benzocaine-Lidocaine-Tetracaine compound 30-60 minutes prior to beginning the treatment.

Is there any downtime after a BB Fractional treatment?

The skin will be reddened with some swelling for a minimum of 1-3 days post treatment. The redness and swelling can last up to 7-10 days post treatment. For most patients, this covers nicely with tinted SPF or mineral makeup and does not interfere with daily activities. For the first 2-3 weeks post treatment, pigment may appear darker as the skin is still in its healing. This is usually well tolerated by most patients. If downtime is a concern, we suggest adding a CO2 Lift Mask to the end of your treatment to expedite the healing time.

If you have a big event you are attending, please plan to complete your BB Fractional treatment at least 4 weeks prior to the event for best results.

How many treatments are needed and how often should I be treated?

We recommend 3-6 treatments, spaced every 4-6 weeks for optimal results.

After a package completion, 1-2 treatments every 12-15 months to maintain results should be completed.
